New book on roads and wildlife

Although it’s obvious to everyone that the British countryside - and many of our most thoroughly protected wildlife sites - are traversed, fragmented and abutted by roads, the scale of the damage roads and traffic causes extend way beyond fragmentation.

There are a few books providing a general overview of road and traffic impacts, but none have done a deep-dive. Now, Paul Donald, a senior scientist at BirdLife International and researcher at Cambridge University, has provided just the scientific analysis needed. His new book, Traffication, is an impressively readable and thorough account of a broad range of road effects on wildlife.

I’ll be doing a deeper review in due course. In the meantime, this book is strongly recommended. Check out Paul’s book via this Amazon affiliate link: Traffication.
