Eric Dinerstein worked with Nepalis conservation leaders to unearth the natural history of the Greater One Horned Rhinoceros. In this wonderful book, he describes their work beautifully and gives us useful account of how to recover large mammal populations us human landscapes.

This is a must-read for those with an interest in large mammal conservation in Southeast Asia. But it’s more than that: it’s an inspiration for those of us striving for trophic rewilding in the UK and across Northwest Europe. If the Nepalese can steward their Rhinos, Tigers, Elephants and Wild Dog packs, we surely can cope with Moles, Martens, Lynx and Hen Harriers?
